ALL YEAR ROUND FEEDING

Although koi feed much less during the winter period and generally stop feeding altogether in the colder months, unless the pond is heated. Our research has shown that it is safe and beneficial to feed Yorkoi whenever the fish want to eat. There is no need to switch to wheatgerm just because temperatures have fallen. It makes sense to continue feeding a diet with a high level of vitamins when the koi are more vulnerable. Changing food because temperatures have fallen can be more stressful for your koi. Of the thousands of koi keepers who have used Yorkoi over the past nine winters not one single customer has reported any ill effects due to the food and most have reported that their koi have come out of the cold spell healthier than winters where wheatgerm was used.

WARNING Do not feed your koi any food when temperatures are expected to plummet below 45 deg F. The temperature of your pond can drop several degrees overnight in cold conditions.

YORKOI GOLD FOOD

Yorkoi Gold has been developed for those who require exceptional high growth rates and is ideally suited to those specialist keepers who are growing on for display or resale. Though very high growth rates can be achieved this is not at the expense of colour retention, unlike many other “growth” foods. This is a 45% protein diet and should only be fed when temperatures exceed 55 deg.F. The floating pellets are available in 4mm, 6mm or the giant 12mm pellets. We also have a sinking 3mm pellet which is ideal for the rapid growth of small koi. Because they sink completely it reduces fin damage often encountered with the surface feeding of smaller fish. Smaller koi have an under developed immune system so we have added extra

vitamin C and lactoferin.

N.B. It is not advisable to feed your fish Yorkoi Gold all the year round. With heated ponds we recommend that you “winterise” your pond at approx 60 deg F and revert to our all season food. This is a high growth food- only feed when temperatures exceed 55 deg F
